Tutorial 1: “Mobile Networks and Cyber Security”
Dr. Anand R. Prasad, CISSP, Senior Expert, NEC Corporation

Abstract:
This tutorial has a 3-fold purpose (1) Provide an overview of mobile communication systems security focusing on SAE/LTE, (2) Give a glimpse to security issues in mobile communication systems including cyber security related issues and (3) Means for prevention. Today, mobile communications is life-line of human society with a huge social and economic impact. This means that security issues in mobile communication systems must be prevented and appropriate steps must be taken from day one. Thus in this talk, we will cover standardized security and known or potential security issues in GSM, 3G and LTE, with focus on LTE security, together with discussion on cyber security issues in mobile networks. Prevention will be given in the form of guiding principles and discussion on methods to perform tests.
Biography:
Anand R. Prasad, Dr. & Ir. (MScEngg), Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Fellow IETE and Senior Member IEEE, is a NEC Certified Professional (NCP) and works as a Senior Expert at NEC Corporation, Japan, where he leads the mobile communications related security activity. Anand is a vice-chairman of 3GPP SA3 (mobile communications security standardization group). He is a Member of the Governing Body of Global ICT Standardisation Forum for India (GISFI) where he is founder chairman of the Security & Privacy working group and was chairman of the Green ICT working group. Before joining NEC, Anand led the network security team in DoCoMo Euro-Labs, Munich, Germany, as a manager. He started his career at Uniden Corporation, Tokyo, Japan, as a researcher developing embedded solutions, such as medium access control (MAC) and automatic repeat request (ARQ) schemes for wireless local area network (WLAN) product, and later he was a project leader of the software modem team. Subsequently, he was a systems architect (as distinguished member of technical staff) for IEEE 802.11 based WLANs (WaveLAN and ORiNOCO) in Lucent Technologies, Nieuwegein, The Netherlands, during which period he was also a voting member of IEEE 802.11. After Lucent, Anand joined Genista Corporation, Tokyo, Japan, as a technical director with focus on perceptual QoS. Anand provided business and technical consultancy to start-ups, started an offshore development center based on his concept of cost effective outsourcing models and is involved in business development. Anand has applied for over 50 patents, has published 6 books and authored 50+ peer reviewed papers in international journals and conferences. His latest book is on “Security in Next Generation Mobile Networks: SAE/LTE and WiMAX”, published by River Publishers, August 2011. Next book planned to be published in 2014 is on “Cyber Security: When information really matters - From Networks to Mobile Devices”. He is a series editor for standardization book series and editor-in-chief of the Journal of ICT Standardization published by River Publishers, an Associate Editor of IEEK (Institute of Electronics Engineers of Korea) Transactions on Smart Processing & Computing (SPC), advisor to Journal of Cyber Security and Mobility, and chair / committee member of several international activities. He is a recipient of the 2012 Asia Pacific Information Security Leadership Achievements (ISLA) Award as a Senior Information Security Professional awarded by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)².

Tutorial 2: “Beamforming and Massive MIMO”
Dr. Jinho Choi, Professor, GIST

Abstract:
Beamforming has been considered as an effective means to increase SNR or spatial multiplexing gain in wireless communication systems over the last two decades. Since beamforming is a key technique in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems that can effectively increase the system capacity by increasing the number of antennas, it will play a crucial role in future MIMO based systems. In this talk, we overview existing beamforming techniques that have been used for single-user and multi-user systems. We also present some recent advances of beamforming for more general systems such as multiuser MIMO systems. For example, network and massive MIMO will also be presented. Some discussions will be made on how beamforming and precoding techniques can be evolved in future systems, e.g., 5G.
